Sports Physiotherapist

Graeme Backen

GRAEME has been a physiotherapist to Canberra’s professional, social and club/park sporting community for in excess of 30 years.

Working in and running one practice in Canberra until the start of 2018, Graeme achieved the APA Title of ‘Sports Physiotherapist’. His patients in this period have included Canberra Raiders Rugby League, ACT Rugby including Brumbies, Canberra Capitals Women’s basketball and various national teams in all these sports.

Now working part time in this Pain Clinic, Graeme employs a ‘sporting injury’ approach to his patients. With those ‘fee paying’ patients he will employ time, spending an hour to establish a relationship, diagnose their condition, ensure an understanding is achieved, administer hands on treatment and ensure they leave with a home program based on confidence and mutual understanding.

This physiotherapeutic approach where appropriate is conducted in a multi-disciplinary fashion in association with the Doctors and practitioners at the Capital Pain and Rehabilitation Clinic.
