Mental Health Week

Around 50% of people who live with persistent pain will also have depression and/or anxiety. Mental Health Week takes place from Sunday 9th October to Sunday 15th October this year.

The week is an annual event celebrated in Australia and over 100 countries in an effort to raise community awareness and understanding of mental illness, reduce the stigma and discrimination associated with people living with mental illness, and promote positive mental health and wellbeing. The theme for 2016 is Learn and Grow Together!

Across Canberra, there are a number of events happening and there is a lot to see and do. Most event are free, some require registration. One of the events is Mental Health & Wellbeing Expo, which is on in Civic for the first time on Friday, 14 October 2016. Come and join in for a fun, market day atmosphere. There will be over 60 stalls with information on their services, free sausage sizzle, face painting, and music from the Dante Musica Viva Choir.
